Glazed stoneware and porcelain for the table Every figure here comes from our last update

Editorial policy

A reader should be able to tell what kind of writing this is before trusting a sentence in it, so here is the standard we hold ourselves to.

What gets published

  • Product facts only where the product states them. A capacity, a diameter, a piece count or an oven limit appears because the product sheet carries it, not because it sounds about right.
  • Honest limits travel with the claims. The pages that praise a glaze also say what cutlery does to a white one over a year, in the same size type.
  • Anything touching food safety carries a link to the body that publishes the guidance and the date we read the page.
  • Where a figure is unknown, it is left out. There are no invented firing temperatures, no invented capacities and no invented test results anywhere on this site.

What stays off these pages

  • Credentials nobody can check. No founding year, no head count, no award and no certificate number beyond what the product sheets themselves carry.
  • Portraits of a team. Where the pages talk about how a piece is made they talk about the work, not about faces.
  • Invented customer voices. Every quoted review is a real one, reproduced as the customer left it, spelling included.
  • Health claims. A bowl can make supper pleasanter; it treats nothing, and no page here says otherwise.

Sources

The public pages we lean on are U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Lead in Food and Foodwares (read 24 August 2026), U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Questions and Answers on Lead-Glazed Traditional Pottery (read 24 August 2026), U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Compliance Policy Guide 545.450: Pottery (Ceramics), Import and Domestic - Lead Contamination (read 24 August 2026), U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA Food Code (read 24 August 2026), U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Microwave Oven Radiation (read 24 August 2026). Each was opened and read on the date shown beside it, and the sentence on our page was written to fit the source rather than the source found to fit the sentence.

Corrections

Write to hello@hasense.org. A correction is made at the next update and the page is changed rather than argued about. Prices, capacities and piece counts are the errors we most want reported.

Independence

Nobody pays for a mention here. There are no sponsored placements, no gifted-in-exchange-for-coverage arrangements and no advertising slots on any page.
